Message Ok I happen to own a 1969 Porsche. No it's not a 911 but it's basically the same thing. It's a 912 which is the same EXACT car as a 911 except it has the lighter although less powerful 4-cylinder engine. Everything else is the same as a 1969 911.

I bought the car after it has been through many different hands. I got a steal on it at $2850. One of the previous owners used it for an Auto-X car. It has Blue KONIs all around as well as a rollcage and harness and upgraded brakes.

The car is a little bit underpowered, mainly because the 4-cyl is stock besides a Bursch exhaust and dual 2-BBL Weber Carbs w/K&Ns.

The car is so simple to work on everything is just the basics. I've never worked on anything simpler in my life. The car absolutley handles awesome to be so old. In the handling and braking department it will smoke my 92 300ZX. The car is a real trick to drive fast though. If you step off the throttle at the wrong time you'll see the rear end of the car swing around in front of you!

Shifting the gears definitaly takes some getting used to seeing as the pattern is totally different from what most of us are used to. But Porsche had it all thought out the shift pattern makes for much faster gear changes when racing on a road course than a standard pattern.

To keep this short, if you want to Auto-X in a 911 get a Pre-72 Model and mod the heck out of it. You will have an extremely light car thats a breeze to work on and will help you develop your driving skills much better than any newer 911. The old 911s is where the fun is :)
